Training & Internships University Training & Intern Program

The Young and the Restless

Michael Cárdenas remembers quite well what it was like to be young and hungry. That's why he and his staff have instituted an intern program and coursework at a number of schools for students who want to get into the localization business. Since it's still a fairly young industry, we're trying to share our knowledge of localization and globalization with as many students as we can.

At present, we have staff providing coursework for students at universities in Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Madrid and our very own San Diego State University.

Over the course of three months, interns, who work with us at the Local Concept headquarters in San Diego, are introduced to our localization strategy, program management, glossary creation, translation, quality assurance, budgeting and contact with clients. They also get exposure to translation tools such as Trados and others. Additionally, interns are familiarized with desktop publishing programs such as Illustrator, PhotoShop, QuarkXpress, FrameMaker and others.
